Contents Page Analysis - Kerrang!

Kerrang! have stuck to a similar house style through out the magazine, they use White, Yellow, Red and Black for everything. This helps to keep everything in order and look simple but effective. They have clearly shown the title of the page, issue number and cover date in the top right hand corner, they have also used there logo on the page so it is clear. The text they use is a simple font, they have the page number and title of page in a bold text and explaination of page which is undernearth in the same text but not bold. On the contents page, there is also a letter from the Deputy Editor, this would help to connect the reader to the magazine. He also suggests some page numbers to read in his letter.

I believe that the audience will respond to this contents page in a postive manner, as they will be able to find things easily and it includes pictures that catch the eye. I like the way that they use the same font over the front cover and contents page and the Deputy Editor's letter, i will think about using them in my magazine.

Kerrang! Masthead.

Kerrang!'s masthead is black capital text, it has a white background and several thin white lines through the black text. I like their masthead, as it a bold clear statement title. It isn't covered by the main central image and can easily be found in a group of magazines.

In my designs for my magazines masthead, i used the idea of all capital letters. I think i need to experiment with colours for my magazine as i don't want it to be too copy cat with Kerrang! and it needs to have it's own style.

Mood Board.

The type of person i am hoping to read my magazine, is a typical student - aged 16-20. They would have some knowledge of new and upcoming bands. They would enjoy going to local band nights, they may even be able to play an instrument themselves so reading the magazine would inspire them to have the same. They would also enjoy festivals such as Glastonbury and Reading.

My music magazine - Unsigned.

My magazine will be about unsigned bands - which play indie/rock style music. Which is why i am naming my magazine "Unsigned".
There are many local bands in the area so i will be able to go to their gigs and get information from there myspace and facebook pages and also personally from them. At this moment, i don't know how frequent my magazine will be and the price of it either, but will later decide on this.

Bands or indvidual artists from the band normally refered to by first and last name, exception is the text at the top of this front cover "Bullet & Horizon prepare for a battle". Bullet is shortned for "Bullet For My Valantine" ande Horizon is shortned for "Bring Me The Horizon".

The Magazine is mainly gig orientated as alot of pages are full of gig guides, the magazine also includes alot of information and question and answers to the artists.

Most of the text is written in a simple black font, placed next to the image on that page.
